Taxonomy
5. Crinum wattii Baker, Handb. Amaryll.: 76. 1888.
Type: India, Manipur, Myang Khong Valley, alt. 4,000 ft., in grassy places, G. Watt 7148 (holotype: K).
Herbs perennial, to 0.5 m high. Bulbs globose or slightly ovoid. Leaves linear-lanceolate, or oblong, 40–100 cm long, 3.5–8 cm broad, grooved along midvein; margin entire; apex acute. Umbel axillary, 6–8-flowered; peduncle flat, 40–60 cm long; spathes 2, triangular, 5–7 cm long, ca. 2 cm broad, membranous; bracteoles 7–9, filiform or narrowly linear, 3–5 cm long ca. 1 mm broad. Flowers white, sessile. Perianth salverform; tube white, straight, 12–13 cm long, ca. 5 mm in diam.; lobes 6, white, reflexed, oblong-elliptic, 7–9 cm long, 1–1.3 cm broad; apex acuminate. Stamens 6, adnate at base of the perianthe lobe; filament purple 4.5–6 cm long; anther linear, 1.5–1.7 cm long, versatlile. Ovary ellipsoid or fusiform; ovules 8–10 per locule; style 18–20 cm long. Capsule ovate or subglobose, 1.5–3.5 cm in diam., with membranous pericarp. Seeds irregular 3–6.
Thailand.— NORTHERN: Chiang Mai; NORTH-EASTERN: Loei, Khon Kaen.
Distribution.— Assam to Thailand.
Ecology.— In dipterocarp forest, bamboo forest to open area in evergreen forest, alt. 350-1,025 m.
Vernacular.— Plab Plueg Khao (พลับพลึงเขา).
